SpektraBot Platform Overview โ€‹

Executive Summary โ€‹

SpektraBot is an AI-powered support platform that helps UK families and education professionals work through the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system. Built as a responsive web application, it provides instant, accurate guidance grounded in authoritative sources -- the SEND Code of Practice, local authority Local Offers, trusted national charity resources, and school SEND policies.

The platform serves two primary audiences: parents and carers seeking to understand their child's rights, processes like Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and available support; and teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) who need practical guidance on compliance, documentation, and best practice. An administrative layer gives system operators full visibility and control over the knowledge base, user management, support tickets, and platform analytics.

SpektraBot is developed by Spectrum Dynamics CIC, a Community Interest Company committed to making SEND navigation accessible to every family in England. The platform is currently in live pilot deployment, serving users with a feature-complete system designed for safety, privacy, and trust.

AI-Powered SEND Guidance โ€‹

SpektraBot provides real-time conversational support using an advanced self-correcting AI engine. Unlike simple chatbots, the system:

  • Retrieves information from a curated knowledge base of authoritative sources before responding
  • Cross-checks its own answers against source documents to prevent inaccurate information
  • Adapts its communication style to the user's role and emotional state
  • Provides inline citations so users can verify guidance against original sources
  • Supports document uploads (PDFs, images) for personalised analysis of EHCP drafts, letters, and reports
  • Filters outdated content (pre-2014 SEND Code references) to ensure current guidance

Role-Based Experience โ€‹

The platform automatically tailors its responses based on who is using it:

  • Parents and Carers -- Trauma-informed, plain-language guidance with emotional validation before problem-solving. Focuses on rights, processes, and practical next steps. Advocacy-oriented language helps families.
